2010 Summer Swim
Season
Blackhawk Swim Team (The HOX) is a recreational swim program that
combines training and competitive swim meets with friendship
building, teamwork and fun! The season kicks off on April
12th and runs through August 15th. The team competes in
10-12 meets from early June to mid-August,
typically on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. During
the week there are daily
practices, sometimes working on stroke improvement and
other times on conditioning. In addition to practicing and
competing in meets, the HOX provides numerous
social activities throughout the summer.
You can expect age specific activities as well as many that include
the entire family. The HOX swim team is for swimmers 18 years
of age or younger, from the novice to experienced
swimmer!
(Note: A minimum swim membership at
Blackhawk Country Club is required to swim on the team, at clinics
or in Stroke School.)
Special Note for Children 6 &
Under:
A child
should be 5 by 6/15/2010 to be considered a "6 & under" on the
2010 HOX swim team. New HOX children age 6 or younger are
required to attend Spring Clinics prior to joining the
HOX. Alternatively, they may do the Summer Stroke School
program and join the swim team in the summer of 2011 (see details
below). All children who participated in Stroke School last season
will begin this season as a 6 & under on the
HOX.

Registration for the 2010 season
closed on May 31.
2010 Registration Fees and Refund
Policies:
HOX 14 & Under
$400 per child (same price as last year).
Price includes required team swimsuit. Fees due in full March 7, if
by check. If charged to club member number, fees will be
charged in two equal installments on April and May
statements.
Refund Policy: There is a $5
administrative fee when you cancel at any time after
the registration process. If you cancel before April 30th at
5:00pm, you can drop from the program and receive your money back,
less a $150 cancellation fee – you
will keep your suit. After April 30th, there are no
refunds.
HOX 15 &
Up
No fee to participate, no team swimsuit
provided.
Stroke School (Summer
Program)
$200 per child (same price as last year). No
team swimsuit provided.
Stroke School will focus on teaching stroke
technique in all four competitive strokes; Backstroke,
Breaststroke, Butterfly and Freestyle. This developmental
program is a prerequisite to participation as a "6 & under" on
the HOX the following summer. It is designed to prepare
swimmers to move on to the HOX swim team the following year.
It is not private swim lessons. The classes are designed to
teach basic swimming with a focus on the four competitive
strokes.
Your child should be 4 years old by 6/15/2009 to
sign up for Stroke School. If your child will be 7 on or
before June 15, 2009 and has never been on a swim team, we
encourage you to sign up for the Spring Clinics and possibly look
at a few private lessons, if necessary.
Refund Policy: There is a $5
administrative fee when you cancel at any time after
the registration process. If you cancel by June 25th at
5:00pm you will receive a 50% refund. After June 25th there
are no refunds.
